
my Medieval Europe class are very interesting. first of all , the professor is a Father. he is so funny, 絕對不是老古董。 secondly, we have two trips in our class. last Sunday we just went to the Trappist Monastery,一所位於大嶼山的修道院,即系以前出十字牌牛奶果間。 最後,we will have a study tour to Europe at the mid of July!!!

Purpose: To witness the historical vestiges of the medieval Western Europe
Condition of participation: 1) genuine interest in the history of the medieval Western Europe.2) prior study and meeting. 3) to study one of the places to be visited and to present the result to the group during the tour before visiting that place; 4) a report of 3,000 words after the tour
order of priority to join the tour: 1) MA students of HIS5532 are given the highest priority.2) CUHK members.3) early applicants.4) relatives or friends of applicants.
Date: mid-July.
Group size: 15-35 members.
Duration: 13 days or more.
Places to be visited:1 - the Carolingian capital at Aix-la-chapelle (Aachen, near Cologne, Germany)
Aix_la_chapelle (Aachen)2 - the cathedral at Chartres (near Paris) where one of the first Gothic architectural method was applied.
Chartres, Cathedral of Notre-Dame ca. 1194 - 1220 (www.beloit.edu) 3 - the castle of the Plantagenet dynasty at Chinon (near Tours) where Henry II, Eleanor of Aquitaine, and later Joan of Arc stayed for some time. The wine is also very special there.

vineyards4 - the monastery at Citeaux (near Dijon) where the ancient Benedictine order was renewed and the trappist monastery in HK is a branch of it.
Abbey of Citeaux5 - the Papal palace at Avignon (near Marseille) where popes stayed there outside of Rome for several decades during the Middle Ages.
The Popes' palace6 - the town of Santiago de Compostela (North-West corner of Spain, passing the famous Guggenheim Museum at Bilbao on the way from France) which has been the centre of medieval pilgrimages.
